MP Contact Lists
Need to raise an issue with a Member of Parliament? There are several ways you can go about it - some are better than others. It depends what you want to achieve.
Do you want to write a letter or email on a matter affecting your community or yourself? If so, you need to be as succinct as possible. No more than two pages, preferably one if you can. MPs need to know the issue, the background and what it is you are requesting.
Are you seeking a meeting? If so, you need to think about what issues you want to raise, and commit them to paper or an email. Doing this will help you to clarify matters, but will also assist the MP or Minister and staff to get further information or advice. Ministers usually need to get advice from a Department on an issue.
Do you want to speak to an MP or a Minister? They don’t always get the time to immediately come to the phone. They’ll want to know what it is you are ringing about before speaking to you. If you’re ringing to try and get a meeting or raise matters with MPs or Ministers, it’s usually better to put your matter in writing, send it off and then follow up with a phone call.
